Cha-Am is best known for its relaxing beaches, the type of beach you visit to lay out with a picnic or a book. But there is more to Cha-Am than sun and sand.
Cha-Am is one of Thailand’s premiere golf destinations—and that’s not all.
Here are three things to keep you busy when you are done with the sun in Cha-Am:
Sandwiched between the sea and the green mountains, there is plenty of scenery—and plenty of courses. Those who want to hit the links can choose from no fewer than seven courses, including one designed by champion U.S. golfer Jack Nicklaus and six standard international courses, in Cha-Am and Hua Hin.
Exclusive to Cha-Am and Hua Hin—and not found elsewhere in Thailand—visitors can ride a pony or a horse along the surf. The ponies are slow and safe. Guides accompany most tours and can explain how to best steer the animals.
For those looking to speed things up, ATV (All-Terrain Vehicles) rides are available. Rides follow the shoreline, with simple routes for beginners and more complicated—and muddy—courses for veterans. Longer tours that offer a view of local life are also available. For those who want to pump a little more adrenaline, a paintball area is nearby and can stage war games for up to 16 people.
