With the exception of the beach, the biggest attraction in Khao Takiab may be the mountain itself.
Known as “Chopstick Mountain,” it is also referred to as Monkey Mountain, thanks to the monkeys who live there.
The mountain offers visitors the opportunity to hike up, visit the temple atop and take in the spectacular view of Hua Hin. You can also play with the monkeys.
Of course, mountains and beaches are only part of the attraction. There are many more things to see in Khao Takiab. Here are three you will not want to miss:
Known as “lion island,” because it resembles a crouched lion, the island is a 20-minute boat ride from Khao Takiab and offers uninhabited beaches and snorkeling, as well as sailing and fishing excursions. Tours to the island generally last about five hours, with the option to have a meal.
The Buddhist temple contains a statue of Luang Phor Thuad, the revered Thai monk who was said to be able to perform miracles. The meditating statue is set in a park, which gets crowded on weekends.
