Klong Prao Beach is unique. Divided by a Waterfall – the area’s hottest attraction – it offers a taste of both the river and the sea.
The longest beach on Koh Chang, it’s a great place to sunbathe, canoe, kayak—even snorkel on the nearby islands of Koh Yuak and Koh Pli .
Though quieter than its neighbors, White Sand Beach and Kai Bae Beach, Klong Prao also has fewer amenities. There are no banana boats or water bikes and no parasailing. Overall there is less shopping and entertainment.
But there is no lack of four-star accommodations on Klong Prao Beach, with restaurants to match. Here are three solid options:
Offering deluxe rooms with balconies, villas with private gardens and two-story grand villas with private Jacuzzis, the Dewa Koh Chang is located on Klong Prau’s lagoon and beach. Amenities include a pool with a swim-up bar, poolside barbeque, outdoor dining and plenty of space to sunbathe. The hotel also has a day spa.
The AANA Resort and Spa has 71 rooms, most of them mountainside villas on stilts with large balconies, spectacular views and a minimalist décor. Nature is the theme here, and the hotel—which is billed as an eco-friendly coastal retreat—offers a kayak in every room, to explore local waters and watch the fireflies dance.
Noren Resort, a three-star facility set away from the beach, offers 15 bungalows and lower prices. But guests get the owner’s undivided attention, and the facility has all the usual amenities, including a pool, a jet spa and poolside dining.
