As the most popular destination on Koh Chang, White Sand Beach has serious nightlife, with packed bars and venues to suit all tastes. Live music. Fire shows. Beer bars. Traditional European pubs. You can find it all on White Sand Beach.
With so many options, it helps to have a guide. Here are three of the best:
Perhaps the most popular bar on the island, and certainly in White Sand Beach, the Sabay Bar offers both seating in the sand and an air-conditioned indoor section. Fire shows are held nightly, when the Filipino house band is not playing. The Sabay Bar gets packed on weekends, so stick to weekdays if you don’t like crowds.
Oodie’s place features live music—played by the owner himself—and musical genres from rock to reggae. There’s a pool table, a daily movie screening and the kitchen serves Thai and French cuisine.
A karaoke bar that features private VIP rooms, The Milky Bar also has more traditional entertainment, including billiards.
Indeed, White Sand Beach has many venues worth a visit, among them 15 Palms, for those looking for a fire show and a quieter atmosphere; Paddy’s Palms, a traditional Irish pub; and Bar 69, a newer facility near the Laap Steak Restaurant.
For more risqué entertainment, a small knot of bars known as Little Pattaya sits toward the southern end of the road bordering the beach, just before heading up the hill to Klong Prao Beach. These are beer bars, with traditional western stools, pool tables and plenty of Thai girls for entertainment.
