Nightlife Guide for Chaweng

Chaweng has plenty of opportunities to party. It’s lively during the day but it’s a night that things really get started, thanks in large part to the wonderful, and wonderfully long, beach here. There are a lot of great night spots to choose from, ranging from discos to laid-back bars to cabaret shows featuring ladyboy entertainers. Whatever your style, you can find a place to hang out at night in Chaweng Beach.

1. Green Mango

This is a loud and very busy, but small, venue that is home to several bars. Some feature young women and pole dancing (as well as opportunities for partygoers to dance) and are definitely live-it-up party spots. Other dance bars here are touch more laid back, and there is even a bar or tow that’s pretty relaxed. Soi Green Mango is located opposite the Chaweng Garden Beach Resort.

2. Ark Bar

The Ark Bar has been around quite a while and has earned its spot on the map. There are fire shows, fire dancing, and other entertainments including DJs and plenty of loud music and dancing. The atmosphere is pretty laid-back, though, and children are welcome.

3. Soi Reggae

No list would be complete without Soi Reggae. This is a very popular spot that offers several bars and is also home to the Petchbuncha Boxing Stadium, where you can see great Muay Thai fights three nights a week. The bars all feature girls and music, but the most popular of them is the Reggae Pub that has lots of dancing and live music.

4. Solo Bar

This is a very cool two-story bar with a science fiction-inspired design. It offers a pool table, big screen TVs, and a resident DJ. There are often special events held here but it’s enough just to go to listen to the music and have some drinks, especially at the beginning of the evening since they have half off cocktails from noon to 10 p.m. It’s usually open until about 3 a.m., sometimes later.

5. Moulin Rouge Ladyboy Cabaret

This cabaret show is very popular and has three shows every night. The performers here are excellent and the costumes are great. They sing, dance, and entertain the crowd. With free entry (but sometimes pricey drinks), this is a great choice for a fun night out.

6. Black Moon & Escape Parties

These parties are held every month, one Black Moon party and two Half Moon (Escape) parties. They generally have great DJs and last long into the night. The location rotates between the Chaweng Event Center and a few other locations, including Samrong Bay. You can find out the exact dates by asking around or contacting a local travel agency.

7. Muay Boxing Stadium

The Petchbuncha Stadium by Soi Reggae has great Muay Thai fights featuring amazing athletes every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday. Fights start off with relatively junior matches at 9 p.m. and can last pretty late into the night.
