Bangtao Beach is one of the longest beaches in Phuket but it is also very quiet. Most of the beachgoers are hotel guests, but those who aren’t guests are still welcome to use the beach. It’s so laid-back and tranquil that you may find yourself alone on the beach from time to time. Bangtao Beach is the ideal place to lay back, read, and soak up the sun.
There are good restaurants at Bangtao Beach’s hotels, but you’ll also find some local venues that have good food for equally good prices. Most of these restaurants are located right on the beach and offer Thai and seafood dishes.
One of the few non-water activities at Bangtao Beach is horse riding along the shores. Since it is rather hot during the day, this activity is most popular in the late afternoon and evening. Horse riding is done through the Bang Tao Riding Club.
The main activities in Bangtao Beach are watersports. These are best done during the high season and include jetskiing, boating, paragliding, and more. Vendors for these activities rent equipment and are easy to find.
When it comes to surfing in Bangtao, opportunities are somewhat limited but still available. The biggest waves are found at the northern end of the beach and there are small but suitable waves in the central areas.
There aren’t any public toilets on the beach itself, but you may access some at the restaurants and hotels, sometimes for a small fee.
Unlike some other beaches, there aren’t any public sunbeds at Bangtao.
